The role of Non-Executive Director is to guide and challenge our Senior Management Team, to ensure that the Company is working in the interests of all our investors and to act on their behalf. With one vacancy to fill this year, we welcomed applications from shareholders and external candidates with a proven strategic profile in the commercial or voluntary sectors, alongside a passion for social business.
Following on from the applications we received, The Board voted in Abena Fairweather. Currently the Managing Director of a B Corp certified, sustainable events company, Abena brings first-hand experience as an entrepreneur guided by purpose over profits.
Abena also brings over 20 years experience in leading initiatives in sustainability, social impact, and the built enviornment across the public, private and charitable sectors. Her previous roles in architecture practices as well as as a social landlord, have honed her skills in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and portfolio management.
Her academic background as a lecturer at London South Bank University and recognition as a UK Green Building Council Future Leader supplements her expertise in sustainable building practices.
Abena says: 'As a pioner in ethical real estate, Ethical Property's commitment to community-focused workspaces aligns with my personal values and professional background. I have always been passionate about supporting and scaling solutions that can have a transformative impact on pressing social and environmental issues. I relish the opportunity to contribute my expertise and skills to the development of the Company as a member of the Board.'
